We met Clover at a recent Pet Photo Shoot Fundraiser for Suncoast Animal League at Flying Boat Brewing Co.

Clover was only a few weeks old when she was trapped in a house fire, along with her mom and litter mates. During the fire, mom crawled on top of her puppies to save them. Unfortunately for Clover, the baby gate surrounding the little family fell on top of her, causing several burns on little tiny puppy body.

Although Clover was injured, thankfully all the other puppies were untouched. Mom suffered severe smoke inhalation, but she is okay now. It’s nothing short of a miracle that the entire family survived the frightening fire.

Clover has had a tough time recovering. The burns she received will likely scar into lifelong memories of that sad night. The fire permanently disfigured both ears. The top of her head is badly scarred, as is her chest. Both her front legs and her paws have pink scars and scabs all over them with patches of missing fur. Plus, the pad of one paw has a big scab and those nails are all burned. It’s unbelievable what she’s been through and incredible she is still alive.

In spite of all these injuries, 7 lb. Clover is a joyful, happy puppy who loves everyone she meets. Her foster mom wrote, “She has such a gentle and playful spirit. She has a mischievous puppy gleam in her eye that hasn’t faded because of what she’s been through. She is a cuddler and likes to give kisses.
