Giving back is as easy as a walk in the park!
Whether you are walking your dog, or in my case, if your dog is walking you (I’m looking at you Rigby!), you can support an animal welfare organization just by striding around town with your pup. Walk for a Dog by WoofTrax is a mobile app that will donate to the animal welfare organization you choose to support every time you walk your furry friend. The more dog walkers that support a given organization, the more money that organization will receive. Pretty “Paw”some right?
Many of the dog walkers are resorting to using time to pet as a way to track their pet sitting and dog walking schedules. Thus far, it has proven to be hugely successful as more and more of the walkers and sitters sign up. It’s an easy way to petsit and walk the dogs, and give back to those that are already giving so much to animals in need of a home.
If you don’t see your favorite organization on the list, they can request to become a beneficiary on the WoofTrax website.
You can download WoofTrax from the apple or Google Play store.
More easy ways to give back to Animal Organization
Amazon Smile
If you’re looking for an additional way to support your favorite animal welfare organization, check out AmazonSmile. Every time you shop on Amazon, a percentage of your purchase will be donated back to them. The next time you buy that item you don’t really need, a non-profit will benefit.
Wish Lists
Many organizations will list what items they are in need of on their website. Some make it even easier and compile their lists directly on Amazon. Contact your local shelter or rescue and see if they have one. If they don’t, suggest that they start. When I worked at a local animal shelter, we received items from our Amazon Wish list constantly.
Personal Fundraising Pages
Websites like GoFundMe and Indiegogo are platforms where you can set a fundraising goal and use social media to raise funds by asking friends and family to donate money. Instead of asking for gifts for your next birthday, consider starting a personal fundraising page and giving all the proceeds to an animal welfare organization.
Item Donations
Shelters and other organizations that care for animals can always use every day items like cleaning supplies, towels, grooming tools, etc. Your local organization may not take every item, so make sure you contact them directly to see what they are in need of.
