Someone walking by Humane Society Tampa Bay noticed 4 puppies in the bushes and when she took a closer look, saw that they had scabs all over their faces. She immediately alerted the shelter, which was only about 500 feet away.
The puppies have what’s known as Demodex, which are mites that infect the skin. The good news is, after a few weeks, they’ll be completely fine and available for adoption.
Abandoning animals is a form of animal cruelty and is punishable by law. Surrendering to a shelter is one of many options if you can no longer care for your animals. No animal deserves to be abandoned.
Humane Society Tampa Bay is also offering a $2,000 reward to any information leading to the arrest of the person who abandoned these puppies. Stay tuned for after photos as well.
Update: 12/8/17 1:24 PM
The Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center is conducting an investigation.
The pups will be in foster care during the holidays until they are available for adoption
