I originally got my start taking photos of shelter animals when I worked for Humane Society of Broward County. That shelter is where I taught myself how to photograph adoptable animals in a way that got them extra attention and highlighted their personality. Photos of animals inside a kennel with poor lighting and photo quality don’t do their personality justice.
This week I have been very humbled by the national attention that the Pit Bull Picture Project has received. It’s extremely rewarding that I get to wake up every day, take photos of pets and continue to help fight negative pit bull stereotypes to increase adoptions.
The 16 pit bulls featured below are from the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center (PRC) located in Tampa, FL. Each animal admitted to the PRC gets a unique ID number. You can use that ID number to view more info about them on the PRC’s website.
